How insidious. I can only assume that was the result of yet another curse. An attempt to tarnish my reputation, or something random, who's to say? It wouldn't be the first time...

I certainly hope that anyone out there would have realized this of my last journal entry. Anyone who knows me well understands that I would never condone murder, let alone violence of any sort. I'm a healer and consummate businessman.

I apologize for any distress that my words would have caused to anyone. I cannot even begin to fathom what the deities' purpose for this one was, and it's abhorrent to me that even for one moment I would have thought violence was an acceptable means to an end.

But my deepest heartfelt thanks to those answered my call. The matter is out of our hands. Best to leave it as it is and to focus on our work.

I shall not forget such a show of support. Please accept this small token of my gratitude.

Message for Saya
Saya, I feel the need to go for a walk. I'd really appreciate your company... perhaps we can go to the gardens together for the afternoon. I'll find someone to cover me at the hospital.

Au contraire, I would say that things are progressing quite smoothly now. Curses can be rather convenient things, can't they?

As to the research from yesterday... I have mixed thoughts concerning what I saw. On the one hand, it's quite frustrating to have what should be so simple elude us as it has... But on the other hand, after seeing your notes, I feel that we are on the right path. We simply need to press on. I'm more than hopeful that we can break this code and find a reliable solution to the problem.

If they are so inconvenient, they can also be used to our convenience?

I am carrying out the experiments as meticulously as possible and have no intention of stopping. Though, perhaps, finding alternate uses as well for this research would be advisable.

Indeed. If only to throw an element of doubt into it. It's better than absolute certainty sometimes...

Alternate uses? Do you have any ideas concerning this path?

One would think so.

In the few cases where they remain dead, I would wish to further my research into returning and maintaining life in the dead. It has been difficult until now to proceed in such regard, as the City does not provide proper research subjects.

An interesting proposition. So long as the main goal is still in progress, I see no reason why this cannot be explored as well...

But tell me, Jezebel... just what is it that you intend to do if you are successful in creating a walking corpse, my friend?

"Successful"? At this point I merely seek to improve upon an already working technique.

Some things are simply done for the sake of science.

Hm? I'd assumed that you had something different in mind than the City Dead. Otherwise why waste time doing something that is already common?

Consider, if you would, something easier to control.

And of course, the City dead may be common, but the why and wherefore of them are hardly so.

Yes, good points. Well, I hope you'll share your findings with me. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with...
