How insidious. I can only assume that was the result of yet another curse. An attempt to tarnish my reputation, or something random, who's to say? It wouldn't be the first time...

I certainly hope that anyone out there would have realized this of my last journal entry. Anyone who knows me well understands that I would never condone murder, let alone violence of any sort. I'm a healer and consummate businessman.

I apologize for any distress that my words would have caused to anyone. I cannot even begin to fathom what the deities' purpose for this one was, and it's abhorrent to me that even for one moment I would have thought violence was an acceptable means to an end.

But my deepest heartfelt thanks to those answered my call. The matter is out of our hands. Best to leave it as it is and to focus on our work.

I shall not forget such a show of support. Please accept this small token of my gratitude.

Message for Saya
Saya, I feel the need to go for a walk. I'd really appreciate your company... perhaps we can go to the gardens together for the afternoon. I'll find someone to cover me at the hospital.

Well. You weren't doing anything wrong this time around, precisely. Although I can't understand why, you do seem to care for Marishka, and we all try to do what we can for those we care about.

The police seem rather interested in talking the situation out. Personally, I think that Marishka would be best behaved if she were put under the guardianship of someone she approves of--namely, you. I question the strength of her obedience to you, but she responds considerably better to you than to anyone else. Vampires tend to be rather dependent on others, particularly if they're removed from their sire; I'm still baffled as to why she would choose you as a surrogate master, however. Vampires generally don't see humans as much more than playthings or meals.

Perhaps it was that we first spoke over the network. It's hard to judge a person on their species if one isn't in the same room... Do I by chance resemble her master in any way?

I really would be interested in speaking with you at length about vampires, seeing as how this is an area of expertise for you. Perhaps it could help me if I'm given the opportunity to try to reform her...

I would accept this duty if it were offered to me. It's the least I could do since things have gotten so far out of hand. Am I at fault for not seeing the signs earlier? I've been so preoccupied with work and Saya, that I'd neglected to see the danger until too late...

Are you implying what I suspect you're implying?

Oh, yes... of course. I'd be more than willing to discuss the topic of vampires, although I don't think you ought to set your heart on reform. A number of attempts have been made to reform vampires, and all were miserable failures that resulted in the death of most everyone involved. I've been thinking, however, and I wonder if a scientific answer might not be possible. Vampires were once human; it stands to reason that what was once human can be made human again. There's a werewolf serum in existence in my world that does this, and I have no doubt that I could concoct something similar for vampires... Marishka wouldn't have it, though. Personally, I would much rather have an angry human to worry about than an angry vampire.

I'm in contact with the police, and I'm certainly trying to involve you in Marishka's future, whatever it might be.

What? I don't see why it's any fault of yours. If anything, Marishka's my responsibility as I'm the only other inhabitant of our world. Of course, there's a difference between seeing the danger from the get-go and being too afraid to take action and seeing the danger itself too late...

Implying? I'm afraid I don't know what you mean... I merely meant, perhaps there's something about me that reminds her of her master. Similar features, or some mannerism that I'm unaware of...

I suppose we could look into some sort of chemical treatment of her. My own company back home excelled in pharmaceuticals for a variety of conditions... But I would like to try something more simple to begin with, and if that were to fail, we can advance to other possible treatments.

Hopefully, now that I'm aware of all of this, I will be able to better look after Marishka so that this incident will not be repeated. We don't want any other victims to arise from her aggressive behavior, do we?

Ah, yes... of course. No need to be paranoid. Not everyone is a demonic entity. Perhaps.

Try what you might, should the police allow it.

If it is repeated, I highly doubt any amount of bartering and discussion will help you assist Marishka. And no! God knows there have been enough victims.
