23rd Devotion: Advancements in Work

It was gratifying to see such a healthy turn out at yesterday's picnic. I want to thank everyone for coming, even those of you that I didn't get a chance to speak to personally.

I'm beginning to think I should be locked up when I'm afflicted in such a way. It seems I've been hit hard with these curses lately... this last weekend was... well, I'm glad that you didn't have to see me like that.

On a side note, there is someone we might want to consider for our organization. This person seems to have a gift for observation and memory retention. I'm thinking that we could use them for gathering information, or cross referencing the data that is gathered from the various departments of ARTEMIS.

Luke, my apologies for nearly letting our little lab specimen go. Thankfully, my coworker was able to prevent me from taking such foolish actions. I'm embarrassed that I hadn't set protocol's in place to prevent such actions from interfering with my organization. I should have known better... there's not much of an excuse, except to say that I don't think this will be an issue again. I'm taking action to correct this matter immediately.

Perhaps adopting such measures in extreme cases would not be a bad idea.

I'm relieved that you talked me into waiting an extra day. Doctor... Jezebel... just think of the damage I could have done to our cause by my actions. I think it prudent for us to set up some safety protocol to prevent such easy sabotage.

Could the deities be doing this on purpose to thwart our attempts?

I should amend my transmission to apologize to our Mr. Valentine for nearly undoing all of his work for us so far...

And I think it unlikely that you'd know of them so far. She's... He's only been here a few weeks. Her...

On related news... I seem to have damaged the relationship with our Carl during this weekend's... catastrophe. He's more wary of me now... after what I did.

Of course this concerns me greatly. I don't wish for his work to suffer for ARTEMIS, and with situations being as they are, it would be easy for us to lose him as an employee.

I'm working to correct the matter, and am doing my best to help him feel more comfortable. But, can you suggest anything that might help?

The problem with safety protocols is that one will scarcely be willing to go along with them while under the influence of a curse.

I would not be surprised if that is the case. Perhaps we should increase the secrecy with which we work...

Perhaps giving him more freedom with which to work? I am not aware of the exact situation, but surely he is aware that you are hardly responsible for your actions when cursed?

I'm thinking perhaps if there were some sort of electronic device set in place that would not allow deviation from our plans. Or perhaps, there might be some checks and balances set up where to deactivate these controls, we'd need more than one member of a higher rank to agree to them as well...

I should consult with Mr. Reed to see if there can be some sort of magic used... barriers... sensory fields... it wouldn't hurt to have more than one way to stop a cursed individual...

Forgive my rambling. I'm merely frustrated with the situation as it stands.

Lavi is an... interesting young... man. He surprised me by the extremes he'd go to in order to procure information concerning a cursed state. It's the only reason I'm pursuing this... please don't ask.

And as for Carl, I'm hoping that I'll be able to reach him. He says he's aware that I'm not to blame, but it seems that the whole experience was rather unnerving for him, nonetheless. I can't fault him for his reaction...
I suppose if he's not willing to listen to reason, I'll simply arrange to have a different intermediary that will check in with him. It'd be a pity, I quite like the man.
