[He didn't know what to say. Of course he wanted Saya. He'd fallen in love with her long before he'd met Marishka.

And she was right, there was the possibility that he'd end up hurt again. But Hagi wasn't here... and he had this once perfect chance to try to win Saya's heart. Wouldn't he be a fool not to take it?

Surely if the situation was reversed, Marishka would go back to her master, abandoning the relationship that she and Solomon had formed out of desperation and loneliness...
