41st Devotion: Contemplating the Past

[Filtered away from Saya]

Is there such a thing as redemption for the past? Can a person ever progress beyond what life has handed them? Or are they forever stained beyond any hope of forgiveness of their circumstances...

An idle thought, but one which I would be interested in hearing others opinions about...

[Private to Aya]
Mr. Fujimiya, I'd like to order a bouquet of Red Tulips to be sent to the following address.

That's dependent on the circumstances and those in a position to forgive, isn't it?

Yes, I suppose you're right. I fear this is one of those 'unanswerable' questions... there would always be far too many factors for there to be an easy answer.

Unfortunately, that's been my experience.

Do you believe in redemption, Mr....?

Leandros. I suppose I don't believe that redemption is a universal possibility.

A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Leandros. I'm Solomon Goldsmith...

Such a grim view... how can there be 'hope' without the concept of redemption being possible? And so it would follow, what value could life hold if there was no hope...?

Unless, there are other things to cling to...

Things such as family? Trust?

I don't discount the possibility of redemption, Mr. Goldsmith. I discount the notion that there is always hope of forgiveness.

Trust seems to be an even more delicate ideal... so fragile. Hard to attain, harder to keep. But something to strive for, if the end goal is important enough...

Perhaps.
