102nd Devotion: Musical Pursuits

[Solomon steps back so the recording device can clearly show him standing there holding a violin and bow delicately in one hand. His brow is creased, and a slight frown of discontent and frustration graces his features.]

Is there a skilled luthier in the city? There seems to be something wrong with my violin... allow me to demonstrate the problem.

[He lifts the instrument and places it under his chin; his fingers wrapping around the fingerboard to press the strings down and begins to draw the bow across the strings. But the melodious sound that one might expect to hear doesn't occur. Instead, the notes that he plays are grating, the song (if one could even call it that) discordant and it's tone as if a cat is being tortured.

The doctor frowns again, and with an apologetic look withdraws the violin to rest by his side once again.]

See? That's the problem. Clearly it needs to be repaired, the sound is completely off. Nathan would be horrified...

[ooc: I'm a Professional Curse: Professional Musician/Violinist. Sadly, Solomon doesn't know a thing about actually playing one....]

Yellow pages? Here? You must be kidding me. That's what addressing the network like this is for, right?

But if you looked up the information yourself, your reputation would have been preserved. What if a fan were to hear that demonstration? They would all be so disappointed, right?

... my fans will understand this isn't me. Clearly it's the instrument that's at fault.

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Eh... that's some faith you have there. That's sad for the instrument though. Poor thing.

My violin will be fine as soon as I can have a luthier take a look at it. And if not, then I'll simply retire it and keep it on display in my apartment.

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-20 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You won't donate it? It seems a pity that such a fine looking instrument should go to waste on display like that.

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
An instrument of this value?

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
If you have a student you'd trust with it. Of course, you could always put it up for auction.

[More amused than anything. She highly doubted he had any students at all.]

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Quite correct.]

Oh, no. I can't see doing that. Unless there was another who I felt had the necessary skill level it deserves.

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
You'll never find them unless you look for one. Why don't you hold a competition? I'm sure someone will meet your expectations by the end of it.

[or the curse will wear off... if this was a curse. He could just be delusional.]

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Would you be vying for that role, Miss...?

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-21 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll have to try harder for a name, but the attempt was charming.]

[Shrugs]
The violin's a bit out of my league unfortunately. I've been cursed with a distinct lack of creativity for such things.

[identity profile] bill-to-sis.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
So it is, but there's not much that can be done to change things and little reason in trying.

[pause]

I do hope you find a Luthier. [Although she's afraid he won't have much luck even if he does, but if it makes him feel better... waves goodbye and disconnects.]
