37th Devotion: The Reason Behind the Research

How insidious. I can only assume that was the result of yet another curse. An attempt to tarnish my reputation, or something random, who's to say? It wouldn't be the first time...

I certainly hope that anyone out there would have realized this of my last journal entry. Anyone who knows me well understands that I would never condone murder, let alone violence of any sort. I'm a healer and consummate businessman.

I apologize for any distress that my words would have caused to anyone. I cannot even begin to fathom what the deities' purpose for this one was, and it's abhorrent to me that even for one moment I would have thought violence was an acceptable means to an end.

But my deepest heartfelt thanks to those answered my call. The matter is out of our hands. Best to leave it as it is and to focus on our work.

I shall not forget such a show of support. Please accept this small token of my gratitude.

Message for Saya
Saya, I feel the need to go for a walk. I'd really appreciate your company... perhaps we can go to the gardens together for the afternoon. I'll find someone to cover me at the hospital.

One doesn't need to be an expert to merely pay attention. As I said, you're the only one I've heard about, which I find odd. If it's what you claim, then so be it.

The deities do in fact tend to lash out when someone gets close to some kind of truth in regards to the clock or this dimension's role. You research the nature of this place, then?

Why yes. It was the reason I formed my organization. Between the curses that afflict us and take away our free will, to the way we all find ourselves trapped here... I couldn't sit by idly without trying to find a 'cure', so to speak.

And what organization is that?

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
The ARTEMIS Organization. Have you not seen our recruiting sessions? We have had the great fortune to have such talented brilliant minds in many various fields. With their work, I'm confident that we will find some way to free ourselves of the deities control.

No I haven't, but I've only been around for a few months and it's a big city.

It must be frustrating when the deities take what you know and toss it out the proverbial window.

Only a few months? We must have arrived around the same time. Which leads me to the question of why certain people are targeted in the first place... I wonder how the deities choose. Every question only seems to lead me to more...

That is quite the understatement. But I find it only increases my determination to find a way to prevent it. It does make my work more challenging...

[identity profile] discessum.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't know. I've never heard of specific people being targeted before except when they've gotten too far in inspecting the clock.

For instance, all recordings I made of the clock expedition became useless shortly after. So it wasn't a curse, really. Just an event.

Semantics I suppose. Curse, event, it's all the same when it comes to garnering the deities attention. Have you ever spoken with one of them? They are rather interesting entities...

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's quite an experience...

[identity profile] discessum.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
I don't doubt that. Though I hear they rarely offer a solid truth and that they tend to speak in riddles.

[identity profile] favoritetraitor.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes. The one I spoke with did have that tendency. Still, it was all rather fascinating...
